As of 1 January 2026, Cyprus will implement revised national minimum wage levels following a decision issued by the Council of Ministers on 23 December 2025. The new rates apply to full-time employees across the majority of economic sectors.

Revised Minimum Wage Levels
Based on information released by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Labour Relations, the Decree introduces the following minimum gross salary requirements for full-time staff:

• At hiring:
Employers must pay a minimum gross monthly salary of €979 from the start of employment.
• After six months of service:
Once an employee completes six consecutive months with the same employer, the minimum gross monthly salary must be increased to €1,088, acknowledging continuity of service and work experience.

This adjustment reflects an increase from the previous thresholds of €900 at hiring and €1,000 after six months.

Applicability and Exemptions
The national minimum wage does not apply uniformly to all sectors. Certain categories of workers continue to be governed by separate legislation or collective agreements and are therefore excluded from the scope of the Decree.
Excluded workers include:
• Personnel employed in the hotel sector
Domestic employees
• Workers in agriculture and farming
Maritime employees

Working Time Arrangements
The Decree addresses salary levels only and does not affect existing rules on working hours.
Current full-time working hour arrangements remain valid as determined by:
• Relevant laws or regulatory Decrees
• Collective labour agreements
• Established workplace practices within each business or sector
